Job keeper ends on 31st March. It has been huge success for small business.
Given it’s expected 200,000 jobs might be lost, and Bill Gates said it will be long into the year 2022 before its normal, it is too early to stop it.
Sure I know we can’t afford the argument that the government is pushing to stop it. But the reverse is a depression, can we afford that! John Keynes the economist makes it clear, in times like this, Governments must spend!
The problem is over the last 90 years too much has been spent on social welfare and not enough on business growth, now that the tables have turned, a lot of people don’t like it.
Without small business there will be no jobs and no money for budget, this challenges conventional wisdom.
If government does not act now, it will cost more later to fix unemployment.
If the apprentice scheme is a replacement for job keeper it won’t work it’s too narrow.
In the meantime small business must:
1/ Reduce staff upskill existing staff;
2/ Get pricing right it may mean increase higher than expected;
3/ Innovation and RD if possible;
4/ Continue marketing;
5/ Forecast to make sure prosper;
6/ Contact us to discuss.
